Manuals you can turn round

iFlatpack turns the confusing, static paper manual in the box into an interactive, step-by-step 3D assembly guide that works instantly in any browser, on a phone or a computer, with no app to download.

Why

A paper manual shows each step once, from one angle, in black lines. When a hole is hidden, a board looks the same both ways round or a screw goes in from behind, you are left guessing. In 3D you can turn the build round, zoom into the hole, slow it down and watch the piece go in, as often as you need.

What each guide does

• Room and Drawing views. Watch the build in a furnished room, or switch to the Drawing view, in the manual's own black-line style. A Transparent view turns the panels to clear glass, so you can see dowels and screws go in from any side.
• Exact counters. HARDWARE IN and PANELS IN count every piece as it goes in, so you always know where you are and whether something is missing.
• Part numbers. Click or tap any panel, screw or tool to see what it is, its six-digit part number, its size and material and the steps it is in. The Part Finder lists every part by its number.
• Common mistakes. Risky steps show the mistake people really make, taken from the manual's own warnings, and what it causes; then Do it right plays the right way, slowly and up close.
• Play it your way. Play a step, take it apart again backwards, or play every step from start to finish; replay any single action up close; move the camera wherever you like and lock it there.
• A page for every step. Each step has its own page with the written instructions under the player, so you can share a link to exactly the step you are on.

How a guide is made

Each guide follows the manufacturer's manual page by page: the same order, the same counts and every hole the drawings show. Sizes and finishes come from the real parts: sellers of replacement parts, the product page and assembly videos. Where we had to estimate something, such as a board's thickness, the guide says so. The 3D models, drawings and text are our own.
