The parts' sizes are our 3D model's own estimates: close, not measured. Overall dimensions (120 × 47 × 76 cm), inside drawer dimensions (72 × 40 × 16 cm and 32 × 40 × 16 cm), package weights, and hardware counts follow IKEA article 092.395.06 and manuals AA-2056590-4, AA-2056594-5, and AA-2056598-5; board thicknesses and hole coordinates are our own estimates from the assembly drawings. IKEA publishes only the outer size.

IKEA NORDLI chest of 6 drawers, white, 120×47×76 cm: interactive 3D assembly guide
Every step of assembling the IKEA NORDLI 6-drawer chest, built in 3D. Press play to watch a step, drag to look around, or switch to Drawing to see it in clean black lines.
What is in the box
Two back panels (80 cm left and 40 cm right), a left side, a shared central divider, a right side, two front upper rails, a 120 cm top panel, a 120 cm base plinth panel, and six drawers (3 wide and 3 narrow fronts, 12 grooved sides, 6 bottoms, and 6 backs). The hardware bags hold 51 cam bolts (118331), 48 dowels (101350), 27 frame cam locks (119081), 2 wall brackets (106989) with 2 washers (100823) and 2 screws (109049), 6 floor glides (10061614), 24 drawer cam locks (103114), 24 plastic fasteners (110519), 12 drawer runners (118790), and 36 countersunk screws (100365).
- Separate the 6 left-hand and 6 right-hand drawer runners (118790) before starting the six drawers.
- Keep the 3 wide drawer fronts, bottoms, and backs (80 cm bay) separate from the 3 narrow sets (40 cm bay).
All 17 steps
- 1
Screw cam bolts into the sides and divider
Lay the left side, central divider, and right side flat on the floor. Screw 3 cam bolts (118331) into the rear edge of each upright with a cross-head screwdriver: 9 cam bolts in all.
- 2
Lay the back panels down and push in the dowels
Lay the wide left back panel and narrow right back panel flat, inside faces up. Push 20 wooden dowels (101350) in by hand: 4 into the top and bottom ends of each of the three uprights, and 4 into the long edges of each back panel.
- 3
Stand the sides and divider and fit the front rails common mistake
Stand the left side, central vertical divider, and right side upright on the two back panels over their cam bolts and dowels. Push 4 dowels (101350) into the ends of the left and right front rails and fit both rails between the uprights. Common mistake: Unlike an outer side panel, the central vertical divider carries cabinet runner channels on both faces and cam bolts only along its rear edge for the right back panel. If the divider is turned end-for-end, its cam bolts point toward the open front instead of seating into the back panel, and the runner channels sit out of alignment with the drawer fronts.
- 4
Lock the sides and divider to the back panels
Insert 9 frame cam locks (119081) into the round holes along the inside of the left and right back panels and turn each clockwise with a flat screwdriver.
- 5
Screw cam bolts into the 120 cm top and base
Lay the 120 cm top panel and 120 cm base plinth panel flat, inside faces up, and screw 9 cam bolts (118331) into each panel: 3 at the left end, 3 at the central divider line, and 3 at the right end.
- 6
Fit the 120 cm top and base plinth panels
Push the 120 cm top panel and 120 cm base plinth panel onto the ends of the left side, central divider, right side, and back panels so all 18 cam bolts and 12 dowels seat cleanly.
- 7
Lock the top and base panels across both bays
Insert 18 frame cam locks (119081) into the round holes inside the left side, central divider, and right side at the top and base, and turn each clockwise with a flat screwdriver.
- 8
Screw the wall brackets under the top panel
Place 2 anti-tip steel wall brackets (106989) against the underside of the top panel at the back of both bays, and secure each bracket with a steel washer (100823) and a screw (109049).
- 9
Press in the 6 glides and stand the chest up
Press 6 floor glides (10061614) into the holes underneath the 120 cm base plinth panel at the four corners and under the central divider, then carefully stand the chest upright.
- 10
Drawers: screw cam bolts into the six fronts
Lay the three wide 80 cm drawer fronts and three narrow 40 cm drawer fronts face down and screw 4 cam bolts (118331) into the back of each front: 24 cam bolts in all.
- 11
Drawers: align the grooves and stand the 12 sides
Push 2 dowels (101350) into the front end of each of the 12 drawer sides. Stand a left and a right side on each of the six drawer fronts over the cam bolts, making sure every lower bottom groove faces inward.
- 12
Drawers: lock the 12 sides to the fronts
Insert 4 cross-slotted cam locks (103114) into the inside of each drawer’s sides (24 in all) and turn them clockwise with a cross-head screwdriver.
- 13
Drawers: slide the six bottoms into the grooves
Slide the three wide drawer bottoms and three narrow drawer bottoms, white face inward, along the aligned side grooves of each drawer until they seat into the front grooves.
- 14
Drawers: slide in the six drawer backs
Slide the three wide drawer backs and three narrow drawer backs down between the rear ends of each drawer’s sides, resting directly on top of the drawer bottom.
- 15
Drawers: hammer in the 24 plastic fasteners
Hammer 4 plastic fasteners (110519) through the outside of each drawer’s sides into the ends of the drawer back: 24 fasteners in all.
- 16
Drawers: screw on left and right runners flush
Turn all six drawers upside down. Fit a left runner and a right runner (118790) along the bottom edges of each drawer’s sides with the nylon roller wheel at the back and the front tab against the drawer front. Drive 3 countersunk screws (100365) per runner (36 in all) completely flush.
- 17
Slide all six drawers into the chest
Angle the rear runner wheels of the three wide drawers into the left 80 cm bay and the three narrow drawers into the right 40 cm bay, lift each front level, and slide all six drawers smoothly home. Anchor the chest to the wall before use.
Questions
Why is my NORDLI drawer jamming or catching halfway in?
Two things cause drawer jams on the NORDLI 6-drawer chest: swapping the left and right drawer runners (118790) on the drawer boxes, or leaving a countersunk runner screw (100365) slightly proud instead of driving its flat head completely flush with the steel slide.
How do the 80 cm wide and 40 cm narrow NORDLI modules join together?
Both drawer bays share a central vertical divider with cabinet runner channels on both faces and are tied together at the top and base by the full-width 120 × 47 cm top panel and 120 × 47 cm base plinth panel using cam bolts (118331), wooden dowels (101350), and frame cam locks (119081).
What is the difference between the two cam locks included in the NORDLI boxes?
The 27 grey composite cam locks (119081) lock the main modular chest frame with a flat screwdriver, while the 24 metal cross-slotted cam locks (103114) lock the six drawer boxes with a cross-head screwdriver.
Which way do the grooved drawer sides go on the wide and narrow drawers?
Stand each drawer side on the back of its drawer front so the lower groove faces inward toward the middle of the drawer. If a side is flipped, the groove faces out and the fibreboard drawer bottom cannot slide in.
Safety
WARNING! Serious or fatal crushing injuries can occur from furniture tip-over. Always secure this modular chest of drawers to the wall using the included tip-over restraints (106989).
About this guide
The part numbers and counts match IKEA's assembly instructions, so you can check each piece against your box. The outer size, 120 × 47 × 76 cm, is IKEA's published size. The 3D runs faster than real hands do.
The three wide drawers measure 72 × 40 × 16 cm inside and the three narrow drawers measure 32 × 40 × 16 cm inside.
The manufacturer's instructions are on IKEA's product page (PDF). If something here differs from the manual in your box, follow the manual.
The 3D models, drawings and text are our own. IKEA and NORDLI are named only to say which product this guide is for.
