What is in the box

One tabletop, four legs and four double-ended screws (115980). No tools are needed: everything goes together by hand.

All 3 steps

  1. 1Screw the double-ended screws into the tabletop

Lay the tabletop upside down on a rug or the flattened carton. Screw a double-ended screw (115980) by hand into each of the 4 holes in its corners, until the collar in the middle of the screw meets the tabletop.

  2. 2Screw on the legs

Put a leg on each screw and turn it clockwise until it sits tight against the tabletop.

  3. 3Turn the table over

Turn the table over and stand it on its legs. Check now and then that the legs are still tight, and turn them tighter if they are not.

Questions

What holds the legs on?

A double-ended screw, part 115980, one per leg: half goes into the tabletop and half into the leg.

Do I need any tools?

No. The screws go into the tabletop by hand, and the legs turn onto them by hand.

How much can the LACK side table hold?

IKEA gives a maximum load of 10 kg on the tabletop, and warns not to sit on it.

A leg is loose. What do I do?

Turn it clockwise until it is tight against the tabletop. IKEA advises checking now and then that the fittings are tight.

Safety

From the manual: this is a delicate table. Do not sit on it, and do not put heavy things on it: the maximum load is 10 kg.

About this guide

The steps, the part numbers, the counts and the order come from IKEA's assembly manual AA-2606170-1 (2025-02-27). The outer size, 55 × 55 × 45 cm, is IKEA's published size. The tabletop’s thickness and the legs’ square section are close, not measured. The 3D runs faster than real hands do.

IKEA gives the maximum load on the tabletop as 10 kg.

The manufacturer's instructions are on IKEA's product page (PDF). If something here differs from the manual in your box, follow the manual.

The 3D models, drawings and text are our own. IKEA and LACK are named only to say which product this guide is for.
