IKEA SUNNERSTA mini-kitchen, 112×56×139 cm: interactive 3D assembly guide
Every step of assembling the IKEA SUNNERSTA mini-kitchen, built in 3D. Press play to watch a step, drag to look around, or switch to Drawing to see it in clean black lines.
What is in the box
Check that all 12 parts and 45 pieces of hardware (including the 4 mm hex key 100092 and the optional TILLREDA mini-fridge brackets) are there before you start. Have a cross-head screwdriver, a spirit level, and 2 pan-head wall screws and plugs suited to your wall ready.
All 24 steps
- 1
Lay out the two side frames
Lay the left and right side frames flat on a rug with their back edges towards the middle. Make sure the oval slots in the top rails are at the top end and the screw holes in the middle crossbars face inwards towards each other.
- 2
Attach the lower cross-rail to the right side frame
Stand the right side frame up on its back edge, set the right end of the lower cross-rail against the back of its middle crossbar, and drive 1 screw (105103) through the rail into the crossbar with the hex key (100092).
- 3
Attach the left side frame to the lower cross-rail
Stand the left side frame on its back edge against the left end of the lower cross-rail and drive 1 screw (105103) through the rail into the left middle crossbar with the hex key (100092).
- 4
Slide on the stainless-steel worktop
With a helper, slide the stainless-steel worktop onto the top ends of the two side frames so the sink cutout sits on the right side and the raised rim wraps over the top rails.
- 5
Screw the front corners of the worktop
Drive 2 screws (105103) with the hex key (100092) through the front holes in the top rails of the left and right side frames into the front corners of the worktop.
- 6
Screw the back corners of the worktop
Drive 2 screws (105103) with the hex key (100092) through the back holes in the top rails of the left and right side frames into the back corners of the worktop. Leave the adjacent oval slots open for the upper rail frame.
- 7
Place the lower bar in the upper rail frame
Lay the U-shaped upper rail frame flat on the floor and position the separate lower rail bar between its two posts in line with the side screw holes.
- 8
Bolt the lower rail bar to the upper posts
Drive 2 screws (105103) with the hex key (100092) through the outer faces of the left and right upper posts into the ends of the lower rail bar, then stand the base frame upright on its feet.
- 9
Slot the upper rail frame into the back posts
Lift the assembled upper rail frame and slide its two posts down through the oval slots at the back corners of the worktop into the back posts of the side frames.
- 10
Lock the upper posts with the sleeve nuts and screws
Hold the 2 white plastic sleeve nuts (10121567) in the slots on the inside of the left and right back posts just below the worktop, then drive 2 screws (105103) from the back with the hex key (100092) through the posts and upper rail tubes into the sleeve nuts.
- 11
Screw on the two diagonal cross-braces
Place the left and right galvanized cross-braces diagonally across the back from the outer holes in the lower cross-rail up to the two holes near the middle of the worktop back apron. Drive 4 short screws (106917) with a cross-head screwdriver to secure both braces.
- 12
Slide the two L-shaped support tubes into the shelf
Decide whether you want the lower shelf on the right side (under the sink, steps 12–16) or on the left side (if fitting a TILLREDA mini-fridge on the right, pages 23–30). Lay the shelf on the floor and slide the horizontal arms of the 2 L-shaped support tubes into the front and back channels of the shelf.
- 13
Align the support tubes flush with the shelf edge
Push both L-shaped support tubes all the way through the shelf channels until their threaded end holes sit flush with the outer edge of the shelf, then lay the mini-kitchen carefully onto its left side.
- 14
Fit the shelf assembly into the frame
Guide the shelf assembly into the right half of the frame so the top ends of the two L-shaped support tubes slot into the oval holes under the middle of the worktop.
- 15
Screw the lower cross-rail to the shelf
Push the support tubes firmly into the worktop sockets, then drive 2 screws (105103) with the hex key (100092) through the lower cross-rail into the back edge of the shelf.
- 16
Stand the mini-kitchen up and bolt the shelf to the side frame
Stand the mini-kitchen back upright on its feet. Drive 2 screws (105103) with the hex key (100092) from outside the right side frame through its middle crossbar into the threaded ends of the two shelf support tubes.
- 17
Push the 8 sink clips into the upside-down sink rim
Place the stainless-steel sink bowl upside down on the rug and push all 8 sink clips (109184) down into the 8 slots around the underside rim—2 on the front, 2 on the back, 2 on the left and 2 on the right—until they click into place.
- 18
Lower the sink bowl into the worktop cutout
Turn the sink bowl right-side up with the overflow slots towards the back and lower it into the cutout on the right side of the worktop until its rim sits flat on the stainless-steel deck.
- 19
Tighten the 8 sink clips in criss-cross order
From underneath the worktop, tighten all 8 sink clips (109184) with a cross-head screwdriver in the numbered criss-cross sequence shown in the manual (1 front-left, 2 back-left, 3 front-right, 4 back-right, 5–6 left side, 7–8 right side) so the sink rim pulls down evenly.
- 20
Stick the 2 bumper strips under the sink rails
Peel the backing paper off the 2 self-adhesive EVA bumper strips (10121701) and press them firmly onto the underside of the front and back worktop rails beneath the sink.
- 21
Move the mini-kitchen to the wall and level it
Move the mini-kitchen back into position against the wall. Lay a spirit level on the worktop and turn the 4 adjustable feet under the side frames until the mini-kitchen stands level and steady.
- 22
Clip the 2 wall brackets onto the upper posts
Snap the 2 white plastic wall brackets (124439) around the left and right vertical posts of the upper rail frame just below the lower rail bar so their flat screw tabs sit on the inside of the posts against the wall.
- 23
Fit the wall spacers and drive the 2 wall screws common mistake
If your skirting board holds the posts 10–15 mm off the wall, slip the 2 square wall spacers (124461) behind the wall brackets (124439)—turned to 10 mm or 15 mm depth to match the gap. Drive 2 pan-head wall screws (never countersunk) with a cross-head screwdriver through the brackets and spacers into wall plugs suited to your wall. Common mistake: A 139 cm mini-kitchen that is not fixed to the wall can tip forward if leaned on or pulled at. That is why IKEA says it must be anchored to the wall using the enclosed wall brackets (124439), spacers (124461) where needed, and 2 pan-head screws and plugs suited to your wall.
- 24
Hang the 5 hooks and press in the 2 hole caps
Hang the 5 white plastic hooks (10121702) over the horizontal bars of the upper rail frame. Press the 2 oval cover caps (10121733) into the two open shelf holes on the left half of the lower back cross-rail. Your SUNNERSTA mini-kitchen is ready for plumbing (page 34) or an optional TILLREDA mini-fridge (pages 32–33).
Questions
Can the SUNNERSTA lower shelf be installed on the left side instead of under the sink?
Yes. Steps 12–16 (pages 13–15) fit the shelf under the sink on the right side, while pages 23–30 show the mirror-image assembly with the shelf on the left side so an under-counter TILLREDA mini-fridge can stand on the right or left. Whichever side is left open takes the 2 oval cover caps (10121733) in the unused holes on the lower back cross-rail.
What are the extra brackets (194597 and 10121699) and 2 leftover short screws (106917) for?
They are only used if you fit an IKEA TILLREDA mini-fridge in the open bay (steps 25–28 on pages 32–33): the flat angle bracket (194597) bolts under one rear screw (105103), and the 2 L-shaped corner brackets (10121699) screw to the front of the side frame and shelf rail with the 2 remaining short screws (106917) to hold the fridge feet.
What tools do I need to assemble the SUNNERSTA mini-kitchen?
The 4 mm hex key (100092) for all 14 M6 × 25 mm screws (105103) is included in the box. You only need a cross-head screwdriver (for the 4 short cross-brace screws 106917, the 8 sink clips 109184, and the 2 wall screws) and a spirit level to level the 4 adjustable feet.
How do the wall spacers (124461) work with different skirting board thicknesses?
Page 20 shows three setups: if the frame stands within 3 mm of the wall, drive the wall screws through the wall brackets (124439) alone; for a 10 mm gap or a 15 mm gap, orient the rectangular spacers (124461) behind the brackets to bridge the gap before driving the 2 pan-head wall screws.
Safety
Furniture that tips over can cause serious or fatal crushing injuries. IKEA says this mini-kitchen must be fixed to the wall using the enclosed wall brackets (124439), spacers (124461) where needed, and 2 pan-head screws and wall plugs suited to your wall.

The 3D runs faster than real hands do.
The manufacturer's instructions are on IKEA's product page (PDF). If something here differs from the manual in your box, follow the manual.
