IKEA INGATORP extendable table, white, 110/155×87 cm: interactive 3D assembly guide

Every step of assembling the IKEA INGATORP table, built in 3D. Press play to watch a step, drag to look around, or switch to Drawing to see it in clean black lines.

What is in the box

Two boxes hold the turned central pedestal column, 4 curved splayed legs, the upper cross mounting plate, 2 solid birch crossbars, 2 wooden extension slide rails, 2 semi-circular main tabletop halves and the folding butterfly extension leaf. The hardware bag contains 12 wooden dowels (101350), 4 leg bolts (122606), 4 washers (100854), 4 hex nuts (100712), 12 frame screws (100214), 4 cam bolts (118331), 4 cam locks (119081), the hex key (100001) and the box spanner (120202).

All 7 steps

  1. 1 Push eight dowels into the pedestal base

Stand the turned central pedestal column upright and push 2 wooden dowels (101350) halfway into each of the four flat mounting faces around the lower block—8 dowels in all.

  2. 2 Bolt the four curved legs to the pedestal common mistake

Push each of the four curved splayed legs onto the dowels around the pedestal base. Drive a leg bolt (122606) with the hex key (100001) through the upper hole of each leg, then place a flat washer (100854) and a hex nut (100712) onto each lower stud and tighten firmly with the box spanner (120202). Common mistake: Snug both the upper hex bolt (122606) and the lower nut (100712) on all four legs with the box spanner (120202) until each leg shoulder sits completely flush against the pedestal column.

  3. 3 Screw the cross mounting plate to the column

Set the upper cross mounting plate centered on the square top flange of the pedestal column and drive 4 frame screws (100214) straight down through the countersunk centre holes using the hex key (100001).

  4. 4 Fit the crossbars and screw in the cam bolts

Place the left and right solid birch crossbars across the outer ends of the cross mounting plate, then drive 4 cam bolts (118331) with a Phillips screwdriver into the front and back ends of both crossbars.

  5. 5 Lock on the extension slide rails

Push the back and front wooden extension slide rails onto the crossbar cam bolts, press 4 cam locks (119081) into the top pockets of the rails and turn them clockwise with a flathead screwdriver. Then drive 4 frame screws (100214) down through the rails into the cross mounting plate.

  6. 6 Fasten the two semi-circular tabletop halves

Lower the left and right semi-circular tabletop halves onto the outer wooden runners of the extension rails with their straight edges facing the middle. From underneath the rails, drive 4 frame screws (100214) upward into the pre-drilled pilot holes in the tabletop halves with the hex key.

  7. 7 Fit the leaf pins and unfold the butterfly leaf

Push the last 4 wooden dowels (101350) halfway into the inner edges of the left and right tabletop halves as alignment pins. Unfold the hinged butterfly extension leaf, lower it into the centre opening and push the two tabletop halves inward until the joints close flush. Done.

Questions

What tools do I need to assemble the IKEA INGATORP extendable table?

The 4 mm hex key (100001) and the box spanner (120202) are included in the hardware bag. You only need to bring a Phillips screwdriver for the 4 cam bolts (118331) and a flathead screwdriver for the 4 cam locks (119081).

How does the butterfly extension leaf store inside the INGATORP table?

When you pull the two semi-circular tabletop halves apart along the birch glider rails, the 45 cm butterfly leaf unfolds flat to extend the table from 110 cm to 155 cm, or folds in half on its brass centre hinges to stow neatly under the tabletop between the slide rails.

Why does the INGATORP pedestal base feel slightly loose after a few weeks?

Natural solid birch settles slightly under load during the first weeks of use. Reach around the lower pedestal block with the included box spanner (120202) and hex key (100001) to re-tighten the 4 leg nuts (100712) and 4 leg bolts (122606).

How many people does the INGATORP 110/155 cm extendable table seat?

Closed to its 110 cm round diameter, the INGATORP table comfortably seats 4 people; extended to 155 × 87 cm with the butterfly leaf unfolded, it seats up to 6 people.

Safety

Two people are needed to lift and turn the assembled table safely, and keep fingers clear of the folding butterfly leaf hinges when opening or closing the extension leaf.

About this guide

The part numbers and counts match IKEA's assembly instructions, so you can check each piece against your box. The outer size, 110–155 × 87 × 74 cm, is IKEA's published size. The turned profile of the central pedestal, the curve of the four splayed legs and the hole positions along the extension slide rails are our own estimates from IKEA’s manual and product measurements. The 3D runs faster than real hands do.

Seats 4 people at its 110 cm round size and extends to 155 cm with the self-storing butterfly leaf to seat 6.

The manufacturer's instructions are on IKEA's product page (PDF). If something here differs from the manual in your box, follow the manual.

The 3D models, drawings and text are our own. IKEA and INGATORP are named only to say which product this guide is for.
