What is in the box
Two full-height side panels with curved upper gallery wings and factory-fitted cabinet runner channels, a recessed top shelf, a rear gallery rim, a bottom panel, a front plinth rail, a fold-out fibreboard back panel, and three full-width drawers (fronts, grooved sides, bottoms, and backs). The hardware bags hold 24 cam bolts (118331), 14 frame dowels (101350), 12 frame cam locks (119081), 2 anti-tip wall brackets (106989) with 2 washers (100823) and 2 screws (109049), 20 back-panel nails (101201), 12 drawer dowels (101345), 12 drawer cam locks (103114), 12 plastic wedge dowels (110519), 6 drawer runners (118790), 18 flush countersunk screws (100365), and 3 round knobs (117615) with 3 knob screws (100413).
- Separate the 8 × 30 mm frame dowels (101350) from the 6 × 30 mm drawer dowels (101345) before starting.
- Sort the 6 drawer runners (118790) into 3 left-hand and 3 right-hand slides.
All 15 steps
- 1
Screw the cam bolts into both side panels
Lay the left and right side panels flat on the floor with their factory-fitted cabinet channels facing up. Screw 6 cam bolts (118331) into each side panel with a cross-head screwdriver.
- 2
Push wooden dowels into the shelf and rails
Push 14 wooden dowels (101350) in by hand: 4 into the ends of the top shelf, 4 into the ends of the rear gallery rail, 4 into the ends of the bottom panel, and 2 into the ends of the front plinth rail.
- 3
Fit the top shelf, gallery rail, bottom, and plinth
Set the left side panel in place, then push the recessed top shelf, the rear gallery rail, the bottom panel, and the front plinth rail onto its cam bolts and dowels.
- 4
Fit the right side panel and lock the frame
Lower the right side panel onto the exposed ends of the shelf and rails, then insert 12 frame cam locks (119081) and turn each clockwise with a flat screwdriver.
- 5
Screw the anti-tip wall brackets under the top shelf
Place the 2 steel anti-tip wall brackets (106989) under the rear corners of the top shelf and secure each bracket with a steel washer (100823) and a screw (109049).
- 6
Turn the cabinet frame onto its front
Carefully turn the assembled HAUGA cabinet frame over onto its front edges so the open rear faces straight up for the back panel.
- 7
Nail on the back panel and stand the chest up
Lay the fold-out fibreboard back panel over the rear edges with its corner cutouts clearing the two wall brackets. Hammer 20 back-panel nails (101201) evenly around the perimeter, then stand the chest upright.
- 8
Drawers: screw the cam bolts into the fronts
Lay the three drawer fronts face down and screw 4 cam bolts (118331) into the back of each drawer front: 12 in all.
- 9
Drawers: push in the dowels and stand the sides common mistake
Push 2 drawer dowels (101345) into the front end of each drawer side. Stand a left and a right side on each drawer front over the cam bolts so the lower bottom grooves face inward. Common mistake: The left and right drawer sides share identical front dowel and cam-bolt spacing, so a side can easily be stood on the wrong end with its groove facing out. Always check that both lower grooves face each other across the inside of the drawer before locking the sides.
- 10
Drawers: lock the sides to the fronts
Insert 4 metal cross-slotted cam locks (103114) into the inside of each drawer’s sides and turn them clockwise with a cross-head screwdriver.
- 11
Drawers: slide the bottoms into the grooves
Slide a painted fibreboard bottom panel smoothly along the aligned side grooves of each drawer until its front edge seats into the drawer front groove.
- 12
Drawers: fit the backs and plastic fasteners
Slide a drawer back down between the rear ends of each drawer’s sides over the bottom panel, then hammer 4 plastic wedge dowels (110519) through the outside of the sides into each back.
- 13
Drawers: screw on left and right runners flush
Turn each drawer upside down. Fit a left runner and a right runner (118790) along the bottom edges of the sides with the nylon roller wheel at the back and the bent tab against the drawer front. Drive 3 countersunk screws (100365) per runner completely flush.
- 14
Drawers: turn upright and screw on the knobs
Turn all three drawers upright. Hold a round knob handle (117615) against the centre hole on the front of each drawer and tighten a knob screw (100413) from the inside.
- 15
Slide the three drawers into the chest
Angle the rear wheels of each drawer into the cabinet channels, lift the front level, and slide all three drawers smoothly into the HAUGA chest from bottom to top. Done.
Questions
Why does a drawer catch or stop halfway when sliding in?
Check that the left and right drawer runners (118790) are not swapped and that all 18 flat-head countersunk screws (100365) are driven completely flush with the steel runner strip.
What is the difference between the two wooden dowel sizes in the box?
The 14 thicker 8 × 30 mm dowels (101350) join the main cabinet frame panels, while the 12 thinner 6 × 30 mm dowels (101345) join the drawer sides to the drawer fronts.
Why does the top shelf sit below the top of the side panels?
HAUGA is designed with a recessed top display shelf at 76 cm height framed by curved 84 cm side wings and a rear gallery rail so items on top cannot slide off the back or sides.
Does the HAUGA 3-drawer chest need to be anchored to the wall?
Yes. A loaded 3-drawer chest can tip forward if more than one drawer is opened at a time, so always anchor the two top brackets (106989) to the wall before loading the drawers.

About this guide
The part numbers and counts match IKEA's assembly instructions, so you can check each piece against your box. The outer size, 70 × 46 × 84 cm, is IKEA's published size. Panel thicknesses, curved side gallery profiles, and hole coordinates are our own estimates from IKEA’s assembly drawings. The 3D runs faster than real hands do.
Each drawer holds up to 12 kg and measures 61 × 38 × 16 cm inside; the recessed top display shelf holds up to 15 kg.
The manufacturer's instructions are on IKEA's product page (PDF). If something here differs from the manual in your box, follow the manual.
The 3D models, drawings and text are our own. IKEA and HAUGA are named only to say which product this guide is for.
