What is in the box
Two wardrobe side panels, a wardrobe bottom, a wardrobe back panel, an interior wardrobe shelf, two soft-close doors, a full-height left bed end panel, a perforated 90×200 cm mattress base, back and front upper guardrails, two ladder stiles with three rungs, a desk leg panel, an under-desk cable shelf, and an integrated desk top. The hardware bags hold 28 wooden dowels (101350), 12 cam bolts (118331), 12 cam locks (119081), 14 barrel nuts (100514), 14 hex socket bolts (122606), 4 shelf support pins (131372), 4 hinge mounting plates (109221), 4 soft-close cup hinges (109338), and the 4 mm Allen key (100001).
- Always assemble the SMÅSTAD loft bed with two adults—lifting the 90×200 cm mattress base and upper guardrails onto the 142 cm wardrobe requires two people.
- Check ceiling height before starting: the 182 cm frame needs at least 205 cm of ceiling height for safe upper-bunk headroom.

Assemble the wardrobe support panels and bottom
Stand the left interior wardrobe side panel and the full-height right end panel, push in 4 wooden dowels (101350), screw in 4 cam bolts (118331), lower the wardrobe bottom panel onto them, and turn 4 cam locks (119081) clockwise.

Fit the wardrobe back panel and stand the left end panel
Push 4 wooden dowels (101350) into the rear edges of both wardrobe sides, fit the structural wardrobe back panel between them, and stand the full-height left bed end panel in place.

Fit the wardrobe shelf, hinge plates, and upper bed dowels
Push 4 metal shelf support pins (131372) into matching hole rows inside the wardrobe, lower the interior wardrobe shelf onto the pins, fit 4 hinge mounting plates (109221) inside the front edges of the wardrobe sides, and push 6 wooden dowels (101350) into the top of the end panels.

Lift and seat the mattress base and upper guardrails common mistake
With two adults lifting together, lower the 90×200 cm perforated mattress base onto the end panels and wardrobe top, then fit the full-length back guardrail and the three-quarter front guardrail onto the alignment dowels. Common mistake: The three-quarter front guardrail bolts to the full-height left end panel at one end and to the left ladder stile at the other. Flipping it puts the barrel-nut cross-holes on the outer face where the 122606 bolts cannot engage.

Stand the desk leg panel and fit the under-desk cable shelf
Stand the desk support leg panel under the left end of the loft bed, fit 4 wooden dowels (101350) and 4 cam bolts (118331) into the desk leg and left wardrobe side, fit the under-desk cable shelf, and turn 4 cam locks (119081) clockwise.

Mount and lock the integrated desk top
Push 4 wooden dowels (101350) and screw 4 cam bolts (118331) into the top of the desk leg panel and the outer face of the left wardrobe side, lower the 137×54 cm desk top in place, and tighten 4 cam locks (119081) underneath.

Press in the soft-close hinges and hang both wardrobe doors
Press 4 soft-close cup hinges (109338) into the 35 mm recesses on the backs of the left and right wardrobe doors, then hold each door up to the wardrobe and click its hinge arms onto the 109221 mounting plates.

Stand the left and right ladder stiles at the front opening
Stand the left 180 cm ladder stile against the right end of the front upper guardrail and stand the right ladder stile flush inside the front-right corner of the right end panel.

Bolt the upper guardrails with barrel nuts and corner bolts
Insert 8 cylindrical barrel nuts (100514) into the inner cross-holes of the back and front upper guardrails, then drive 8 hex socket bolts (122606) through the end panels and left ladder stile with the Allen key (100001).

Fit and bolt the 3 ladder steps
Push 6 wooden dowels (101350) into the ladder stiles, position the 3 flat ladder steps between them, insert 6 barrel nuts (100514) underneath the steps, and tighten 6 hex socket bolts (122606) with the Allen key (100001). Done.
