IKEA IDÅSEN sit/stand desk, brown/dark grey, 120×70 cm: interactive 3D assembly guide

Every step of assembling the IKEA IDÅSEN desk, built in 3D. Press play to watch a step, drag to look around, or switch to Drawing to see it in clean black lines.

Before you start

IKEA IDÅSEN sit/stand desk (120×70 cm, 63–127 cm height range, manual AA-2075920-6): 12 parts, 52 hardware pieces, a hex key included in the box, and a cross-head screwdriver.

All 7 steps

  1. 1 Fit the four levelling glides to the feet

Set the left and right T-shaped steel floor feet in position and thread the four adjustable levelling glides (107862) by hand into the threaded sockets at both ends of each foot so the desk can be levelled on uneven floors.

  2. 2 Bolt the lifting columns to the feet

Stand the left and right motorized lifting columns upright on the central saddles of the floor feet with their triangular side gussets aligned along the runners. Drive four M6×80 hex socket bolts (122606) through each column base flange into the foot using the hex key (100001).

  3. 3 Join and set the telescoping crossbeam

Slide the right crossbeam tube inside the left crossbeam section, set the assembly across the tops of both lifting columns at the 120 cm width mark, and drive the eight countersunk bolts (110907) with the hex key (100001) to secure the ends and lock the overlap.

  4. 4 Attach the left and right top brackets

Lay the left and right winged support brackets across the ends of the crossbeam over each lifting column. Place eight washers (100823) over the recessed saddle holes and tighten eight M5×15 hex socket screws (123451) with the hex key (100001).

  5. 5 Mount the stained ash veneer tabletop common mistake

Lower the 120×70 cm stained ash veneer tabletop onto the front and rear pads of the top brackets so the pre-drilled pilot holes underneath line up with the wing slots. Drive eight 4.5×25 mm screws (108443) upward through the brackets into the tabletop with a cross-head screwdriver. Common mistake: Locking the telescoping centre crossbeam at the 160 cm width marks instead of the 120 cm setting places the top support brackets too far apart, so their mounting holes miss the pre-drilled inserts underneath the 120×70 cm tabletop.

  6. 6 Fit the power unit, cable net, and controller

Position the power supply unit underneath the tabletop and route both motor leads and the controller lead into it. Hold the mesh cable management net up over the power brick and push the six expanding fasteners (110519) into the pre-drilled holes until they click, then fasten the front paddle controller under the right-hand edge with two 4×16 mm screws (109049).

  7. 7 Calibrate and raise to standing height

Plug the power cable into the wall socket, press and hold the front controller paddle downward for five seconds so both columns register their lowest 63 cm reference stop, then tilt the paddle upward to glide the desk smoothly up to standing height.

Questions

How do I reset or calibrate the IDÅSEN sit/stand desk?

Press and hold the front paddle controller downward for at least five seconds at the lowest 63 cm stop until both columns pulse slightly. That synchronizes the left and right motors.

Which width setting should the telescoping crossbeam use?

Align the telescoping crossbeam with the 120 cm inner width marks before tightening the four centre clamping bolts (110907); the wider 160 cm marks are for the 160×80 cm tabletop.

Safety

Keep clear of the gap around the tabletop while raising or lowering the desk, and always complete the five-second downward paddle reset before first use so both motorized columns stay synchronized.

About this guide

The part numbers and counts match IKEA's assembly instructions, so you can check each piece against your box. The outer size, 120 × 70 × 63–127 cm, is IKEA's published size. The 3D runs faster than real hands do.

The manufacturer's instructions are on IKEA's product page (PDF). If something here differs from the manual in your box, follow the manual.

The 3D models, drawings and text are our own. IKEA and IDÅSEN are named only to say which product this guide is for.
