IKEA RIGGA clothes rack, white: interactive 3D assembly guide

Every step of IKEA's RIGGA clothes rack manual, built in 3D. Press play to watch a step, drag to look around, or switch to Drawing to see it in the manual's black-line style.

What is in the box

Two feet with their castors, four shoe bars, two uprights with their sliding tubes, and the rail. The bag holds 6 connectors (10084881), 2 bolts (10003302), 2 sleeve nuts (106498), 2 plastic inserts (128998) and the hex key (108490), the only tool you need.

All 9 steps

  1. 1Screw two shoe bars to a foot

Stand a foot on its castors. Hold a shoe bar with a thread in its ends to it and turn a connector (10084881) by hand through the hole in the foot into the bar, until its head sits right down in the hole. Do the same with the second threaded bar: 2 connectors. The two plain bars wait for the next step.

  2. 2Stand it on the foot and add the plain bars

Tip the foot over onto its side on the rug, so the two bars point straight up. Push the two plain shoe bars into the slots in the foot between them.

  3. 3Lay the other foot on the bars

Lay the second foot on the top ends of the four bars, the same way round as the first, so the ends go into its holes and slots.

  4. 4Screw the bars to the second foot common mistake

Turn a connector (10084881) by hand down through each of the two holes in the top foot into the threaded bars under it, until its head sits right down in the hole: 2 connectors. Common mistake: Each connector’s round head must go right down into its hole, as the manual’s pictures on pages 3 and 5 show. One that goes in at a slant, or sits on the edge of the hole, stands out and never takes hold of the bar’s thread: take it out, line it up with the bar, and turn it in again until its head is down in the hole.

  5. 5Lay it on its castors and tighten

Tip the base back down onto its four castors. Tighten all four connectors with the hex key (108490), until their heads sit flush in the feet.

  6. 6Put the uprights over their sockets

Lower an upright over the socket on each foot, its holes towards the other upright, until its notched end sits astride the foot’s tube.

  7. 7Bolt the uprights to the feet

Push a bolt (10003302) through the square hole at the foot of each upright and its socket from outside, and turn a sleeve nut (106498) onto it from inside with the hex key until it is tight.

  8. 8Screw the rail onto the uprights

Push a plastic insert (128998) into the top of each upright. Lay the rail on them and screw a connector (10084881) down through each end of the rail into the upright with the hex key: 2 connectors.

  9. 9Set the rail’s height

Press in the button on an upright, slide its inner tube up or down, and let the button click into another hole; do the same on the other side, to the same hole, so the rail is level. There are six heights, from 126 to 175 cm.

Questions

What tools do I need for the RIGGA clothes rack?

Only the hex key (108490) in the box. The first connectors are turned in by hand and tightened with it later.

Which shoe bars go on first?

The two with a thread in their ends: the connectors screw into them. The two plain ones push into the slots in the feet once the first foot lies on the rug.

How do I change the height?

Press the button on an upright, slide its inner tube to another hole and let the button click in; set the other upright to the same hole, so the rail is level.

How much can the RIGGA hold?

IKEA gives a maximum load of 35 kg in all.

Safety

The manual warns that the rack can tip over: move it gently, and keep its load within 35 kg.

About this guide

The steps, the part numbers, the counts and the order come from IKEA's assembly manual AA-712786-6 (2021-08-25). The outer size, 111 × 51 × 126–175 cm, is IKEA's published size. The length, depth, the six heights and the shoe bars’ height are IKEA’s, the hex key’s size a spare-parts seller’s; the tubes, the castors and where the holes are, are read off the manual’s drawings and IKEA’s photos, so they are close, not measured. The 3D runs faster than real hands do.
