RIGGA clothes rack step 4 of 9: Screw the bars to the second foot

Turn a connector (10084881) by hand down through each of the two holes in the top foot into the threaded bars under it, until its head sits right down in the hole: 2 connectors.

Tools: none, just your hands

Common mistake: a connector that does not sit down in its hole. Each connector’s round head must go right down into its hole, as the manual’s pictures on pages 3 and 5 show. One that goes in at a slant, or sits on the edge of the hole, stands out and never takes hold of the bar’s thread: take it out, line it up with the bar, and turn it in again until its head is down in the hole. The switch in the player shows what goes wrong.

Questions

What tools do I need for the RIGGA clothes rack?

Only the hex key (108490) in the box. The first connectors are turned in by hand and tightened with it later.

Which shoe bars go on first?

The two with a thread in their ends: the connectors screw into them. The two plain ones push into the slots in the feet once the first foot lies on the rug.

How do I change the height?

Press the button on an upright, slide its inner tube to another hole and let the button click in; set the other upright to the same hole, so the rail is level.

How much can the RIGGA hold?

IKEA gives a maximum load of 35 kg in all.

Safety

The manual warns that the rack can tip over: move it gently, and keep its load within 35 kg.

About this guide

The steps, the part numbers, the counts and the order come from IKEA's assembly manual AA-712786-6 (2021-08-25). The outer size, 111 × 51 × 126–175 cm, is IKEA's published size. The length, depth, the six heights and the shoe bars’ height are IKEA’s, the hex key’s size a spare-parts seller’s; the tubes, the castors and where the holes are, are read off the manual’s drawings and IKEA’s photos, so they are close, not measured. The 3D runs faster than real hands do.
