What is in the box

A back panel, two sides with factory-fitted cabinet channels, a top, a base plinth panel, and for each of the three drawers a recessed-grip front, two grooved sides, a bottom and a back. The hardware bags hold 30 cam bolts (118331), 24 dowels (101350), 18 frame cam locks (119081), 12 drawer cam locks (103114), 12 plastic fasteners (110519), 6 left/right drawer runners (118790), 18 flush countersunk screws (100365) and 4 floor glides (10061614).

All 16 steps

  1. 1 Screw the cam bolts into the sides

Lay both side panels flat, inside face up. Screw 3 cam bolts (118331) into the back edge of each side with a cross-head screwdriver until the collar meets the board.

  2. 2 Lay the back down and push in the dowels

Lay the back panel flat between the sides, holes up. Push 12 wooden dowels (101350) in by hand: 2 into each long edge of the back and 2 into each end of both sides.

  3. 3 Stand the two sides on the back panel

Stand both side panels upright on the long edges of the back panel, lowering their cam bolts and dowel holes onto the back.

  4. 4 Lock the sides to the back

Insert 6 cam locks (119081) into the round holes along the inside of the back panel and turn each clockwise with a flat screwdriver.

  5. 5 Screw the cam bolts into the top and base

Lay the top and the base panel flat, inside faces up, and screw 6 cam bolts (118331) into each panel: 3 at each end.

  6. 6 Fit the top and base panels

Push the top panel and the base panel onto the ends of the sides and back panel so all cam bolts and dowels seat cleanly.

  7. 7 Lock the top and base panels

Insert 12 cam locks (119081) into the round holes inside both sides at the top and base, and turn each clockwise with a flat screwdriver.

  8. 8 Fit the floor glides and stand the chest up

Press 4 floor glides (10061614) into the corners underneath the base panel, then carefully stand the chest upright.

  9. 9 Drawers: screw the cam bolts into the fronts

Lay the three drawer fronts face down and screw 4 cam bolts (118331) into the back of each front: 12 in all.

  10. 10 Drawers: align the bottom grooves and stand the sides common mistake

Push 2 dowels (101350) into the front end of each drawer side. Stand a left and a right side on each drawer front over the cam bolts, making sure the bottom panel groove on every side faces inward. Common mistake: The left and right drawer sides share identical front dowel and cam-bolt spacing, so a side can easily be stood on the wrong end or turned around with its bottom groove facing out. Always verify that both lower grooves face each other across the inside of the drawer before locking the sides.

  11. 11 Drawers: lock the sides to the fronts

Insert 4 cross-slotted cam locks (103114) into the inside of each drawer’s sides and turn them clockwise with a cross-head screwdriver.

  12. 12 Drawers: slide the bottoms into the grooves

Slide a drawer bottom, white face inward, smoothly along the aligned side grooves of each drawer until it seats into the front groove.

  13. 13 Drawers: slide in the drawer backs

Slide a drawer back down between the rear ends of each drawer’s sides, resting directly on top of the drawer bottom.

  14. 14 Drawers: hammer in the plastic fasteners

Hammer 4 plastic fasteners (110519) through the outside of each drawer’s sides into the ends of the drawer back.

  15. 15 Drawers: screw on left and right runners flush

Turn each drawer upside down. Place a left runner and a right runner (118790) along the bottom edges of the sides with the nylon wheel at the back and the front tab against the drawer front. Drive 3 countersunk screws (100365) per runner completely flush so no screw head protrudes to jam the slide.

  16. 16 Slide the drawers into the chest

Turn each drawer upright, angle its rear runner wheels into the cabinet channels, lift the front level and slide all three drawers smoothly home. Done.

Questions

Why is my drawer jamming or catching halfway in?

Two things cause drawer jams: swapping the left and right drawer runners (118790), or leaving a countersunk runner screw (100365) slightly proud instead of driving its flat head completely flush with the steel runner.

Which way do the drawer sides go?

Stand each drawer side on the drawer front so the lower groove faces inward toward the middle of the drawer. If a side is flipped, the groove faces out and the drawer bottom cannot slide in.

What is the difference between the two cam locks in the box?

The 18 grey composite cam locks (119081) lock the main chest frame with a flat screwdriver, while the 12 metal cross-slotted cam locks (103114) lock the three drawer boxes with a cross-head screwdriver.

How many screws hold each drawer runner?

Three flat-head countersunk screws (100365) per runner (18 in all): two into the underside of the drawer side and one through the front tab into the back of the drawer front.

Safety

Never let children climb or hang on open drawers. Anchor modular chests to the wall to prevent tip-over accidents.

About this guide

The part numbers and counts match IKEA's assembly instructions, so you can check each piece against your box. The outer size, 80 × 47 × 76 cm, is IKEA's published size. Panel thicknesses, runner positions and hole coordinates are our own estimates from IKEA’s assembly drawings. The 3D runs faster than real hands do.

Each drawer holds up to 15 kg and measures 72 × 40 cm inside.

The manufacturer's instructions are on IKEA's product page (PDF). If something here differs from the manual in your box, follow the manual.

The 3D models, drawings and text are our own. IKEA and NORDLI are named only to say which product this guide is for.
