IKEA NISSAFORS trolley, black, 50.5×30×83 cm: interactive 3D assembly guide
Every step of assembling the IKEA NISSAFORS trolley, built in 3D. Press play to watch a step, drag to look around, or switch to Drawing to see it in clean black lines.
What is in the box
Two U-shaped side frames, three perforated steel mesh bottoms, six short end rims (four shallow, two deep) and six long side rims (four shallow, two deep). The hardware bag holds 16 black hex-socket screws (190419), 18 snap sleeves (10005471), 18 snap pins (10005485), 4 push-in swivel castors (10054852) and the 3 mm hex key (190094). No extra tools are needed.
- Build on a rug or the flattened carton so the black powder coating is not scratched.
All 8 steps
- 1
Slide the short end rims onto the three mesh bottoms
Lay the three perforated mesh bottoms flat on the rug: two for the shallow trays and one for the deep bottom tray. Slide a short end rim onto the left and right ends of each mesh bottom so the rim’s lower lip channels under the sheet and the holes line up.
- 2
Lock the short end rims with 6 snap sleeves and pins
At the middle of each short end, push a snap sleeve (10005471) down through the hole in the mesh bottom and the rim’s lower lip, then press a snap pin (10005485) into the sleeve until it clicks: 2 pairs per tray, 6 sleeves and 6 pins in all.
- 3
Fit the long side rims and click the four corners home
Slide the two long side rims onto the front and back edges of each mesh bottom, channeling their lower lips underneath the sheet, and press all four corners per tray until the tabs on the long rims click into the slots on the short end rims.
- 4
Lock the long side rims with 12 snap sleeves and pins
Along the front and back edges of each tray, push 4 snap sleeves (10005471) into the holes through the mesh bottom and side-rim lip, then press 4 snap pins (10005485) in until they click: 12 sleeves and 12 pins across the three finished trays.
- 5
Stand the three trays on the first side frame and start 8 screws common mistake
Lay one side frame flat on the rug. Stand the deep tray at the open leg end and the two shallow trays at the middle and by the top handle bar. With the hex key (190094), start 8 screws (190419) through the trays’ end rims into the frame—4 in the deep bottom tray and 2 in each shallow tray—leaving a small gap under each screw head. Common mistake: Each tray is sheet steel that needs a little play while both side frames are brought together. If you pull the first 8 screws (190419) tight against the rim in step 5, the trays clamp slightly out of square and the holes at the top end miss the threaded inserts on the second side frame. Leave a small gap under every screw head in steps 5 and 6, then tighten all 16 in step 7.
- 6
Fit the second side frame, turn over and start 8 screws
Set the second side frame on top of the three trays, turn the trolley over onto it so the new frame rests flat on the rug, and start the remaining 8 screws (190419) with the hex key (190094)—4 in the deep bottom tray and 2 in each shallow tray—again leaving a small gap under each head.
- 7
Tighten all 16 frame screws firmly
Now that all three trays sit square between both side frames, go round with the hex key (190094) and tighten all 16 screws (190419) firmly until every screw head seats flush against its end rim.
- 8
Click in the 4 castors and stand the trolley upright
Stand the trolley upside down on its two top handle bars so the open ends of the four posts point straight up. Push the stem of each swivel castor (10054852) straight down into a post until it clicks home, then turn the trolley upright onto its four wheels.
Questions
What tools do I need to assemble the NISSAFORS trolley?
No extra tools are needed. The 3 mm L-shaped hex key (190094) for the 16 frame screws is included in the box, and the 18 snap sleeves, 18 snap pins and 4 castors push in by hand.
Why does the deep bottom tray take 8 screws while the other two trays take 4?
The deep bottom tray uses two screws at each corner (4 per side frame, 8 in all) to brace the two U-shaped side frames and keep the trolley square, while the middle and top shallow trays use one screw at each corner.
Why shouldn’t I tighten the screws all the way in steps 5 and 6?
Leaving a small gap under the screw heads while you attach the first and second side frames lets all three trays settle square so every hole lines up. Once all 16 screws (190419) are started, tighten them firmly in step 7.
How much weight can the NISSAFORS trolley hold?
IKEA rates the trolley for up to 7 kg per tier and 21 kg in total.
Safety
IKEA gives a maximum load of 7 kg per tier and 21 kg in all. For indoor use (and bathroom use in a splash- and water-free area), tested to EN 16121:2023 (Test Parameter 1, General Use), and not approved for food contact. Re-tighten the screws when necessary.
About this guide
This is an independent 3D engineering guide modeled from physical hardware specifications and standard fastener part numbers so you can identify your pieces before building. The outer size, 50.5 × 30 × 83 cm, is IKEA's published size. The overall dimensions, load limits and spare-part numbers are IKEA’s; the tube section, tray rim heights and hole positions are our own estimates from the product photos, so they are close, not measured. The 3D runs faster than real hands do.
