What is in the box

Two sides, the top, a front rail, a back rail, the back panel and three drawers (fronts, sides, backs and bottoms). Bag 1 holds 6 runners, 12 runner screws (146113), 8 dowels (101345), 8 long screws (100214), 4 glides (153548), 16 nails (101206), a hex key (100001) and a nail holder (105493); the wall fixing kit holds 2 brackets (106989), 2 screws (109049), 4 washers (100823), 2 wall screws (109567) and 2 plugs (10087223); bag 2 holds 12 cam bolts (118331), 12 cam locks (106720), 12 fasteners (110519), 3 knobs (10118587), 3 knob screws (109564) and 6 stop screws (102323).

All 19 steps

  1. 1Screw the runners to the sides

Lay both sides flat, their inside faces up. Hold three runners on each side’s holes and screw each on with 2 screws (146113) and a cross-head screwdriver: 12 screws.

  2. 2Push dowels into the rails

Push a dowel (101345) into each end of the front rail and the back rail.

  3. 3Push dowels into the top

Push 2 dowels into each end of the top.

  4. 4Screw the wall brackets under the top

With the top upside down, put a wall bracket (106989) at each back corner, its leg up at the back edge, and fix each with a washer (100823) and a screw (109049) through the slot in its foot.

  5. 5Join the top and the rails to a side

Stand a side on its front edge. Push the top and the two rails onto its dowels and fix them with 4 long screws (100214) through the side, turned in with the hex key (100001).

  6. 6Put the other side on

Push the other side onto the dowels of the top and the rails and fix it with 4 long screws.

  7. 7Press in the glides and turn the frame round

Press 2 glides (153548) into the foot of each side. Turn the frame round on the floor.

  8. 8Nail the back panel on

Lay the back panel on the back, its notches round the brackets, and fix it with 16 nails (101206), tapped in with a hammer: hold each nail in the nail holder (105493) to keep your fingers clear.

  9. 9Mark and drill the wall

Stand the dresser up and set it against the wall where it will stay. Mark the wall through the slot in each bracket’s leg, move the dresser away and drill an 8 mm (5/16 in) hole at each mark. The screws and plugs in the box suit most solid and hollow walls; in solid wood, use the screws without the plugs.

  10. 10Tap in the wall plugs

Tap a plug (10087223) into each hole with a hammer, flush with the wall.

  11. 11Fix it to the wall

Set the dresser back against the wall and drive a wall screw (109567) with a washer (100823) through each bracket’s slot into its plug.

  12. 12Screw cam bolts into the drawer fronts

Lay the three drawer fronts face down. Screw 4 cam bolts (118331) into the back of each: 12 in all.

  13. 13Stand the drawer sides on

Stand two sides on each front, over its cam bolts. The side with the warning label belongs to the drawer that goes in at the top.

  14. 14Turn the cam locks

Put 4 cam locks (106720) into each drawer’s sides and turn them clockwise with a screwdriver until they hold the sides tight to the front.

  15. 15Slide the drawer bottoms in common mistake

Slide a bottom into each drawer’s grooves, down to the front, before the back goes on. Common mistake: The drawer bottom goes into its grooves from the back, past where the back sits, before the back goes on. Put the back on first and the bottom has nowhere to go: you would have to knock the fasteners out again. Slide the bottom all the way down to the front, then put the back on it.

  16. 16Put the drawer backs on

Put the back on each bottom, between the sides, and hammer 4 plastic fasteners (110519) through the sides into its ends.

  17. 17Turn the drawers over and fit the knobs

Turn each drawer the right way up. Hold a knob (10118587) on the middle of its front and screw it on from inside with a screw (109564).

  18. 18Slide the drawers in

Slide the drawers onto their runners, the one with the warning label at the top, as the manual shows.

  19. 19Turn in the stop screws

Pull each drawer out and turn a stop screw (102323) into each of its sides near the back with a flat screwdriver: 6 in all. They stop the drawers before they come out of the frame.

Tools you need

Questions

What tools do I need for the RAST dresser?

The hex key (100001) and the nail holder (105493) are in the box. You also need a cross-head and a flat screwdriver, a hammer, a pencil and a drill with an 8 mm (5/16 in) bit for the wall.

Do I have to fix RAST to the wall?

Yes. The manual warns that children have died from furniture tipover; the wall fixing kit in the box holds it with two brackets under the top.

Why will the drawer bottom not slide in?

The back must go on after the bottom: the bottom slides into its grooves through the open back. If the back is already on, take it off, slide the bottom in, then put the back back on.

Which drawer goes at the top?

The one with the warning label on its side, as the manual shows on page 19.

What are the stop screws for?

One goes through each drawer side near the back, so a drawer stops before it comes out of the frame.

Safety

From the manual and IKEA’s product page: WARNING! Tipping hazard – this product must be securely anchored to the wall. Children have died from furniture tipover. Use screws and plugs that suit your wall; if you are unsure, seek professional advice.

About this guide

The steps, the part numbers, the counts and the order come from IKEA's assembly manual AA-2413402-4 (2026-09-02). The outer size, 62 × 35 × 68 cm, is IKEA's published size. The dresser’s width, depth and height and the drawers’ inside size are IKEA’s (in inches on its US page); the boards’ thickness, the rails’ heights and where the holes, runners and brackets sit are read off the manual’s drawings, so they are close, not measured. The 3D runs faster than real hands do.

The manufacturer's instructions are on IKEA's product page (PDF). If something here differs from the manual in your box, follow the manual.

The 3D models, drawings and text are our own. IKEA and RAST are named only to say which product this guide is for.
