The parts' sizes are our 3D model's own estimates: close, not measured. The desk’s size and height range and the fasteners’ sizes are IKEA’s; the beam’s sections, the columns, the legs and where the holes are are our own estimates, so they are close, not measured. IKEA publishes only the outer size.

Questions
Which width do I set the beam to?
For this 120×70 cm top, slide the end sections in until the holes near the middle line up, and fix them with 8 socket screws (100181) and 8 flange nuts (104875). A 160×80 cm top uses the holes further out, with the same 8 of each.
Which hex key goes with which screw?
The 5 mm key (124345) fits the socket screws 100181 and the round-headed screws 149697. The 6 mm key (100049) fits only the 4 large socket screws 159171 in the legs’ feet.
How do I raise and lower the IDÅSEN desk?
With the power unit plugged in, tilt the paddle up to raise the desk and press it down to lower it. It goes from 63 to 127 cm.
Which side does the paddle go on?
Either side of the front edge. Lead its cable out of the beam on the side you choose.
How much weight does it hold?
IKEA’s product page gives 70 kg, spread over the top; the instructions in the box draw 75 kg. Do not put it all in one spot.
The desk rocks. What do I do?
Lay a spirit level on the top and turn the glides under the feet by hand until the top is level.
Safety
From the instructions: spread the load over the top and do not put it all in one spot. IKEA’s product page gives a maximum load of 70 kg. Check now and then that the fastenings are tight, and tighten them again if needed.
About this guide
This is an independent 3D engineering guide modeled from physical hardware specifications and standard fastener part numbers so you can identify your pieces before building. The outer size, 120 × 70 × 63–127 cm, is IKEA's published size. The desk’s size and height range and the fasteners’ sizes are IKEA’s; the beam’s sections, the columns, the legs and where the holes are are our own estimates, so they are close, not measured. The 3D runs faster than real hands do.
IKEA’s product page gives a maximum load of 70 kg; the instructions in the box draw 75 kg, spread over the top and not in one spot. Keep to the lower figure.
The manufacturer's instructions are on IKEA's product page (PDF). If something here differs from the manual in your box, follow the manual.
The 3D models, drawings and text are our own. IKEA and IDÅSEN are named only to say which product this guide is for.
