Step 12 of 12
TROFAST stepped frame step 12 of 12: Stand it up and fix it to the wall
Stand the frame up. Under the tall top’s back strip, set the wall bracket (106989) with a washer (100823) and its screw (109049) through the slot, not yet tight. Move the frame against the wall, screw the bracket’s other leg to the wall with a screw and plug that suit your wall (not in the box), then tighten the bracket screw.
Tools: Cross-head screwdriver
Common mistake: leaving it standing without the wall fixing. Pulled at the top or climbed on by a child, a free-standing frame tips forward and falls. That is why IKEA says it must be fixed to the wall, with a screw and plug that suit your wall. The switch in the player shows what goes wrong.
All 12 steps

The parts' sizes are our 3D model's own estimates: close, not measured. The 94×44×91 cm size and the hardware’s sizes are IKEA’s; the lower columns’ heights and the boards’ thicknesses are our own estimates, so they are close, not measured. IKEA publishes only the outer size.

Questions
What tools do I need for the TROFAST pine frame?
The hex key (100001) comes in the box for the 28 long screws (100214). You also need a cross-head screwdriver for the plinth brackets and the wall bracket, and a pencil to mark through the brackets’ slots.
Which way do the strips go on the TROFAST tops?
Each strip has a groove along it: push it onto the board’s edge with the groove towards the board. Turned round, it will not sit.
Why is the TROFAST frame built lying down?
Lying on its front, the dividers, tops and bottom can be joined at the floor with the long screws before the ends go on. It is stood up only once it is whole, to be fixed to the wall.
How many dowels and screws does the TROFAST 94×44×91 frame use?
52 dowels (101350) and 28 long screws (100214), plus 4 short screws (109041) for the plinth brackets and 1 screw (109049) with a washer for the wall bracket.
Safety
This frame must be fixed to the wall with the wall bracket in the box, so it cannot tip over if a child climbs on it or pulls at it. The wall screw and plug are not in the box: choose ones that suit your wall.
About this guide
This is an independent 3D engineering guide modeled from physical hardware specifications and standard fastener part numbers so you can identify your pieces before building. The outer size, 94 × 44 × 91 cm, is IKEA's published size. The 94×44×91 cm size and the hardware’s sizes are IKEA’s; the lower columns’ heights and the boards’ thicknesses are our own estimates, so they are close, not measured. The 3D runs faster than real hands do.
The manufacturer's instructions are on IKEA's product page (PDF). If something here differs from the manual in your box, follow the manual.
The 3D models, drawings and text are our own. IKEA and TROFAST are named only to say which product this guide is for.
