Questions
How does the folded PAX frame go together?
It comes folded flat: the two sides are hinged to a back in two halves. Stand it up, pull off the two tapes by hand, swing out the left side, open the back on its middle hinge and swing out the right side. Feet, plinths, the top and the bottom then go in without cam locks.
How much ceiling height do I need for the PAX frame?
IKEA says the frame can be put together standing if the ceiling is at least 237 cm high, and 240 cm if you add a sliding door.
How do I level the PAX frame?
Each of its four feet (10108698) turns in its holder: put the 3 mm hex key (10094315) through the hole in the top of the holder and turn it until the frame stands steady and level.
How is the PAX frame fixed to the wall?
Through its two anchoring brackets in the top back corners: a wall spacer (10046275) is turned through each until it touches the wall (up to 22 mm, for a skirting board), and a wall screw with a washer (100823) goes through it. Use screws and plugs that suit your wall.
Safety
This furniture must be fixed to the wall with the anchoring brackets in the box, using screws and plugs that suit your wall. Two people are needed to put it together.
About this guide
This is an independent 3D engineering guide modeled from physical hardware specifications and standard fastener part numbers so you can identify your pieces before building. The outer size, 100 × 58 × 236 cm, is IKEA's published size. The outer size is IKEA’s. Board thicknesses, the places of the feet and plinths and the way the folded panels lie are our own estimates. The 3D runs faster than real hands do.
The frame comes folded, in one 246 × 61 × 8 cm package; standing it up needs a ceiling of at least 237 cm.
The manufacturer's instructions are on IKEA's product page (PDF). If something here differs from the manual in your box, follow the manual.
The 3D models, drawings and text are our own. IKEA and PAX are named only to say which product this guide is for.
