Step 2 of 5

LACK TV bench step 2 of 5: Spin the 4 legs onto the corner bolts

Set the pre-drilled end of each hollow leg over a corner bolt and turn the whole leg clockwise until it sits snug against the underside of the top. Align the final quarter-turn so the small pilot hole on the side of every leg faces inward across the 80 cm span toward the leg opposite.

Tools: none, just your hands

Common mistake: leaving a leg’s bracket hole facing outward. Each hollow leg has a single pre-drilled pilot hole partway up one side for the lower shelf bracket, and only the strip behind that hole is reinforced. If you stop turning a leg half a turn early or late so its hole faces outward or toward the front/back, the L-bracket cannot be screwed to the inside of the leg. The switch in the player shows what goes wrong.

All 5 steps

  1. 1 Screw the 4 double-ended bolts into the top
  2. 2 Spin the 4 legs onto the corner bolts common mistake
  3. 3 Lower the shelf and seat the 4 L-brackets
  4. 4 Drive the 8 bracket screws and stick on the 4 glides
  5. 5 Turn the TV bench upright

Questions

How do the legs attach to the LACK TV bench?

Each leg attaches with a 7×70 mm double-ended screw (part 115980): screw one end into the corner of the upturned top panel by hand until the middle collar meets the board, then spin the leg clockwise onto the exposed threads.

Which way should the small holes on the LACK TV bench legs face?

When tightening the four legs onto the corner bolts, align the last quarter-turn so the small pilot hole on the side of each leg faces inward across the 80 cm span toward the opposite leg. The four L-shaped shelf brackets (131372 / 115753) screw into those holes.

How much weight can the LACK 90×26×45 cm TV bench hold?

IKEA rates the top panel for a maximum TV load of 30 kg and the suspended lower shelf for up to 10 kg.

What tools do I need to assemble the LACK TV bench?

Only a cross-head (Phillips/Pozidriv) screwdriver for the 8 short screws (part 108443 / 100365) that fasten the 4 lower shelf brackets. The 4 corner leg bolts go in by hand.

Safety

Do not sit or stand on the TV bench, and never exceed the 30 kg maximum load on the top panel or 10 kg on the lower shelf.

About this guide

The part numbers and counts match IKEA's assembly instructions, so you can check each piece against your box. The outer size, 90 × 26 × 45 cm, is IKEA's published size. Overall dimensions (90×26×45 cm) and hardware part numbers are from IKEA manual AA-472386-9; shelf height and bracket offsets are close estimates from the manual drawings. The 3D runs faster than real hands do.

IKEA gives a maximum TV load of 30 kg on the top panel and 10 kg on the lower shelf.

The manufacturer's instructions are on IKEA's product page (PDF). If something here differs from the manual in your box, follow the manual.

The 3D models, drawings and text are our own. IKEA and LACK are named only to say which product this guide is for.
