Where it goes

Fitting it

A cam lock sits in a round hole in a board’s face and grips the head of a cam bolt screwed into the board it meets. Put it in with its arrow or its opening towards the cam bolt’s hole, bring the boards together so the bolt’s head slides into it, then turn it clockwise with a screwdriver that fills its slot or cross. It locks in less than a full turn: stop as soon as it pulls the joint tight, as turning on can strip the board or the bolt.

Taking it out

Turn it back anticlockwise, the way it went, until the bolt’s head lets go and the boards come apart. If it spins without letting go, press the boards a little closer together while you turn it. To lift it out of its hole, ease it up with a flat screwdriver.
