Step 7 of 9
FRIHETEN sofa-bed step 7 of 9: Mount the hinged chaise seat lid
Lower the hinged chaise seat lid onto the storage box, align its spring-loaded stay-hinge arms square to the backrest so the lid clears the main seat deck, and fasten both hinges from inside the box with 4 flat washers (100823) and 4 hinge screws (120925).
Tools: Hex key (100001, in the box)
Common mistake: tightening the chaise lid hinges out of square. The manual shows aligning both spring-hinge slots square to the backrest before fully tightening the four hinge screws (120925). If tightened out of square, the lid shifts forward and binds against the main seat frame. The switch in the player shows what goes wrong.
All 9 steps
- 1 Join the chaise side panels and front rail
- 2 Attach the chaise back panel
- 3 Set the storage bottom and screw on the chaise feet
- 4 Bolt the backrest behind the chaise box
- 5 Attach the main seat frame to the chaise and backrest
- 6 Bolt the reversible armrest to the right end
- 7 Mount the hinged chaise seat lid common mistake
- 8 Roll the pull-out bed frame under the main seat
- 9 Place the three back cushions along the backrest

The overall 230 × 151 × 66 cm dimensions, 140 × 204 cm bed size, reversible chaise layout, and fastener numbers follow IKEA assembly manual AA-702253-15; individual rail thicknesses and sub-frame positions are proportioned from the manual’s drawings. IKEA publishes only the outer size.

Questions
Can the FRIHETEN chaise-longue go on either the left or the right?
Yes. Both the backrest and the armrest have symmetrical mounting points so you can assemble the storage chaise on either the left or the right side, and move it later if you rearrange your room.
What tools do I need to assemble the FRIHETEN corner sofa-bed?
All required tools come in the box: a cranked hex key (100001) for the wood screws, machine bolts, and hinge screws, and a tubular box spanner (120202) for the carriage-bolt lock nuts.
Why does the chaise seat lid rub against the main seat frame?
If the four stay-hinge screws (120925) are tightened before squaring the chaise lid against the backrest, the lid sits slightly skewed. Loosen the hinge screws a turn, square the lid, and retighten.
How does the pull-out bed convert into a double bed?
Pull the under-bed frame forward by its two fabric straps until it stops, then lift the front rail up and back so the scissor mechanism locks the trundle mattress flush with the main seat and chaise.
Safety
Keep fingers clear of the scissor-link mechanisms when lifting the chaise storage lid or pulling out and raising the under-bed trundle frame. Do not allow children to play inside the storage compartment.
About this guide
The part numbers and counts match IKEA's assembly instructions, so you can check each piece against your box. The outer size, 230 × 151 × 66 cm, is IKEA's published size. The overall 230 × 151 × 66 cm dimensions, 140 × 204 cm bed size, reversible chaise layout, and fastener numbers follow IKEA assembly manual AA-702253-15; individual rail thicknesses and sub-frame positions are proportioned from the manual’s drawings. The 3D runs faster than real hands do.
IKEA tests seating and sleeper frames for everyday household use up to 110 kg (242 lb) per seat.
The manufacturer's instructions are on IKEA's product page (PDF). If something here differs from the manual in your box, follow the manual.
